Ya Aba 3abdillah. Rabbits are haram to eat because they don't have HOOVES. Cows and sheep and camels and deer have hooves, they're halal to eat. Pigs have hooves, but they were specifically made haram. Donkeys also have hooves, but they have also been made haram i believe in hadith, like wise horses made makrooh.

It is not permissible to sell and/or buy snakes. Correct me if I am wrong but I think this leads owning snakes or non permissible pets is not allowed. Note, his grandsons were at maximum about 7 years old when he passed, so the dog obviously was not for hunting or guarding. He was a pet.
